Welcome to Bridging Disciplines in Manuscript Studies, an online space to promote and sustain the rich tradition of manuscript scholarship at the University of Toronto and local scholarly communities.
In 2018, a working group was established under the auspices of the Jackman Humanities Institute to provide a space for scholars to emerge from their disciplinary silos and participate in collaborative exchange of resources, expertise, pedagogies, and, above all, a shared appreciation for manuscripts and inscribed objects. Three exciting years of operation has seen the emergence of a robust and generous community of scholars, committed to this goal. While all good things must come to an end and Bridging Disciplines has had to give way to other JHI initiatives, its members wished to maintain a space where the initiatory goals of the working group can persist.
On this website, you will find different ways to engage with manuscript studies in Toronto. Whether you are looking for primary resources to study, experts to assist your research, or tools to learn about manuscripts, you can find names and resources here.
